My first week at ixchange was everything I thought it would be and nothing that I thought it would be.
Being in the church for 14 years and being the fourth child in my family to join ixchange, I would say I had a bit more insight into what goes on here than the average person. I knew how the average day in the office would look like; what time they cycle in the mornings; what time they go to the office; and what the general vibe in the office is.
I knew that there would be challenges. I knew that I would have to deal with my soul and put others first. I also knew that I would probably be less busy than I used to and would also have to deal with myself in that regard.
Knowing all this, I arrived at the church knowing but also not really knowing what to expect. We had a few orientation meetings/sessions, chatted and got to know people that I’ve already kind of knew, got a tour of a church building that I’ve come to about every Sunday for the last fourteen years. But the inviting manner that everyone received me really made an impression on me.
To be honest, the biggest thing that I had to deal with was how I would want to prove myself. I would constantly compare myself with everyone around me (knowing that it’s wrong) and try to convince myself that I am not as spiritual as them, I’m not doing enough, and that I’m not “it”. Then… we had a session/conversation with the fifth years. They shared the challenges that they faced in their first year and basically said, “it’s ok not to be perfect.” I’m paraphrasing a lot, but that is what marked me.
It made me realize that the whole point of ixchange is to become more Christ-like, “perfect”, and yes, believe it or not, I’m not perfect. But, I’m getting there, I am here to sow, grow, and for abundance to show. I am here to give it my all. I might miss it here and there, but I’m going all in.
Kenneth E. Hagin once said, “I can deal with a little wildfire; it’s raising people from the dead that’s hard.” So, I am on fire for God. I’m going to the maximum in this time at ixchange. It is my time to rise, time to thrive, and time to be alive.
